Archive of Sophia = Wisdom

Situation: Sophie is playing with some little game bits called "meeples". They're tiny wooden people-shaped thingies. Anyway, she's lining them up and saying "this one's Daddy, this one's Grandma, this one's Grandpa, etc..." I ask, "Where's the Mommy one?" She points to one that is a different shape than the others and says, "This one's Mommy, the fat-shaped one."

Situation: Also with the meeples...she says, "This one's the prophet." I ask, "Really? What is a prophet?" She says, "He's the guy at the ward." (sorry, this one's a Mormon inside-joke)

Jamie: Do you like to swim? Sophie: No, I'm not a fish.

Jamie: Sophie, what did you do today? Sophie: Oh, a little bit of bad behavior.

Situation: Jonas is lying on Sophie's bed. Sophie is tickling him and saying, "Where did you come from Jonas? Where did you come from?" Which is kind of funny for her to say anyway.... So I ask her "Sophie, where did Jonas come from? Do you know?" I was thinking she'd say something sweet like, "heaven". Instead she answers, "Um, I think he probably came from IKEA."

Sophie likes to make up songs lately. Here's a new, slightly disturbing one. "Row, row, row your boat gently down the stream, eat your dog for breakfast with butter and cream." Seriously. I'm not making this stuff up.

Sophie: My brain is too fast! Me: Too fast for what? Sophie: Too fast for talking to you.

Sophie: Mommy will you talk to me? Me: Yeah honey, what do you want to talk about? Sophie: Let's talk about.....WOLVERINES!!!!

Situation: Sophie gets a half full juice box from the fridge. She walks into the living room while sipping it slowly. Then she stops and says "this tastes like green potatoes."

Me: doing laundry, blissfully unaware. Sophie: in the front room, making an unauthorized phone call to Daddy at work, in which she says, "we're coming to get you right now, and then we're going to get me a new piggy bank." Danny: since it's 4:30, figures we are coming to get him and that Sophie must have been a good girl today and is getting a piggy bank reward -- heads outside to wait for us, and ends up waiting for a while.......
