Birthday girl and Smiley boy

Sophie turns 3! Well, she did on March 8th. Her birthday this year was a quiet affair. Sophie and Jonas both had RSV, and I took Jonas to the ER minutes after this picture was taken. She looks so sad in this picture, and you can see her little nose, all raw and red from wiping it so often! Turned out she also had an ear infection! So, we didn't really feel like doing the big party thing and infecting all our friends. We went to Red Robin for lunch, and had them sing the birthday-hand-clapping-song-thing to her. The look on her face was priceless -- fear, excitement, embarrassment. Then we just did a little party at home -- Disney princess themed (her obsession 'du jour').

Anyway, I love this little girl so much! I can't believe it's been 3 years. Here's some of my favorite things about Sophie:

• THAT SMILE!!! Ever since the first time I saw that smile with 2 little dimples.....it was love.
• Hearing her singing when she doesn't know I'm listening
• The look on her face when she "has a plan!" That's what she calls it when she comes up with some creative to get what she wants even when I've said "no".
• Her dancing. If you've seen it, you know. It's hilarious. I've got to get a video and put it up here.
• Goodnight hugs, kisses, and "I love you, Mommy." It melts my heart every time.
• She's so well-rounded. She loves trains, princesses, doggies, rough-housing, ponies, fishing, and lip gloss.

And, a new side of Sophie I'm getting to know and love -- big sister! Here she's reading "Peter Rabbit" to Jonas.
Here's Jonas (or "little Jonas buddy" as Sophie calls him)-- the smiliest kid I've ever seen. He will sit and smile at the blank wall for 20 minutes! He loves to smile. This smile isn't even a very big one. He just does these huge smiles all the time. So far he seems to be a happy, mellow little guy. But, don't mess with his feeding schedule, that's the only thing that gets him angry.
